Shrubs can be planted almost any time of year, although spring and fall are typically the best times to plant. If planting in summer, or if a rogue heat wave hits, be extra attentive about watering newly planted shrubs. Intermediate between shrubs and trees are arborescences, or treelike shrubs, from 3 to 6 m tall.
