Wolfsbane Plant. Aconitum, a genus of toxic flowering plants of the northern hemisphere aconitum lycoctonum or northern wolfsbane; Aconitine, mesaconitine, hypaconitine and other alkaloids have potent cardiotoxins and neurotoxins found in all parts of the aconitum species, especially in the tubers and roots.
Wolfsbane has hooded white or purple flowers. It’s a beautiful herbaceous perennial with finely divided leaves similar to those of delphiniums, to which it’s related. The plant has laid claim to many diverse uses, ranging from herbal medicine to poisonous weaponry.
