Heliotrope Plant. I planted marine heliotrope in patio containers with osteospermum in full sun last year. There is one warning that should accompany any discussion in the care of heliotrope plants.
As the plant’s nickname suggests, heliotrope flowers are. These encourage leaf production at the expense of flowering. All parts of the plant are poisonous to humans and animals if ingested.
